While you may choose to paint a door, ground-level window trim and other parts of your house’s exterior, it’s really a job best left to the professionals. One of the main reasons is experience. An experienced painter knows how to handle the prep work, spot problems and identify sources of future trouble, all while getting the job done more efficiently. They are also experienced with spending long hours on tall ladders. If you want high-quality work, it’s best to hire a professional painter near you. Broomfield House Painting
Paint supplies cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more depending on what you need. Painters will typically provide most of the supplies for a project, but sometimes they will allow you to pay for solely labor if you provide all the materials yourself. You might decide to do a DIY paint job down the road. In which case having these supplies on-hand will save you time and money. Broomfield House Painting
IF you want to have textured walls or ceilings, expect to pay at least 50% more for the job per square foot: $6-7.5 per sq.ft. Interior paint really varies in price and quality. Cheap paint by brands like Valspar can cost as little as $20-30 per gallon for flat/matte paint. High-end brands, such as Farrow and Ball, that have very high quality pigments that don't fade overtime as well as unique colors can cost as much as $100-120 per gallon. However, you can get very beautiful results and lasting quality with middle of road, trusted brands such as Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore (sold at your local Lowe's or Home Depot). Depending the type of paint, these brands cost $40-55 per gallon.
Hi Cindy, new construction can be difficult because often times nothing is caulked or primed. We recommend charging at least 30% more when doing new construction. If your typical rate is $1.50 per square foot, on new construction we’d recommend charging $2.00 per square foot. You will save some money by having them buy the paint, but paint is usually only 10-15% of the job cost. Builders don’t usually pay much for house painting, so it is recommended you meet with the builder or construction company in person to agree on a final price. Broomfield Home Painting

- Go for neutral colors. Every person has their own color preferences, so there is no point in trying to impress with the trendiest hues of the current year. Instead, go for time tested, classic and neutral colors, such as beige, taupe, cream, shades of grey, off white. If you want to add more color on an accent wall, shades of blue, green, or warm earth tones always have a nice general appeal. House Painting Broomfield CO
If your home or apartment is more than 30 years old (constructed prior to 1978), there is a high chance that the current paint on the walls and window/door trim contains lead. This is a serious health hazard, especially if there are small children living in the home. If you suspect that there may be lead paint on your walls, its best to test for it and remove it, before putting on new coats of paint.
Hello, I’m Interested I’m beginning a painting business in homer Alaska and am curious on the price for bidding. My friends parents had a side of their house estimated and they said it was going to cost them a whopping 3500 dollars! Very small area to paint for that mark up price but everything in Alaska is very expensive so I was curious if that was normal. Also wondering if small towns are better or worse for new painting businesses? Would that mean for less clients but less competition? I’m very familiar with both interior and exterior painting but am very much skilled at new construction/production painting. I’m just not sure if somewhere like Alaska would be good for business especially during the winter. House Painting Broomfield CO

You’ll spend between $500 and $3,000 or $1 to $3.50 per square foot to paint concrete. However, expect to pay $2 to $7 per square foot since concrete almost always needs a coat of primer first. Double that price if the concrete requires stripping. Concrete is porous. Sealing it not only helps blend foundations and walls with your home’s aesthetic, but also seals it against water. Repairing or resurfacing concrete costs $300 to $500 for every 100 square feet. House Painting Broomfield CO
Most of a projects price is the cost of labor at $25 to $75 per hour. However, most contractors bid out based on the entire project which includes all work hours. Hourly rates are only useful if your pro asks to do the job as “time and materials.” However, be wary of this pricing structure, it usually shows the contractor is uncertain how long the project will take.
I’m buying a house and closing on May 6th. We need the entire interior painted, It’s 2179 square feet and the home will be empty of all furniture when the painting is to be done. There is minimum prep work as far as nail holes, and one spot from water damage that will need some prep work. It’s a two story house with 3 bedrooms upstairs, and the foyer goes up to the second floor. I would like the paint to be high quality, egg shell, washable.

Very nice blog. Pretty good information. BTW, how do you estimate the equipment cost for a painting project? You might have spray machines bought 3 years ago or may be renting such machines. So how much equipment cost will you charge for a given project? Also how about the overhead cost – like insurance, rent, ad, vehicle, utility, salary…etc… ? How do you figure out how much overhead cost to be charged on a given painting project? House Painting Broomfield Colorado
