You’ll spend between $500 and $3,000 or $1 to $3.50 per square foot to paint concrete. However, expect to pay $2 to $7 per square foot since concrete almost always needs a coat of primer first. Double that price if the concrete requires stripping. Concrete is porous. Sealing it not only helps blend foundations and walls with your home’s aesthetic, but also seals it against water. Repairing or resurfacing concrete costs $300 to $500 for every 100 square feet.
I’ve got approx 1,500 sq ft house to paint. All trim is stained wood with poly, trim is to be sanded, primed n painted gloss white with 12 interior doors. 4 inch crown as well throughout. Minor drywall repair also. I need the work right now so I’m trying to bid the job so I get it but not leave too much money on the table. I’m thinking about 1,750 to do the job…labor only. Any help?
While you may choose to paint a door, ground-level window trim and other parts of your house’s exterior, it’s really a job best left to the professionals. One of the main reasons is experience. An experienced painter knows how to handle the prep work, spot problems and identify sources of future trouble, all while getting the job done more efficiently. They are also experienced with spending long hours on tall ladders. If you want high-quality work, it’s best to hire a professional painter near you.

As the dance proceeds, keep an eye on the weather. Rain can wash freshly applied latex right off the wall, and a temperature dip below 50 degrees F two days after application can interfere with adhesion and curing and dull the sheen of glossy paints. (Latexes like Sherwin-Williams's Duration and Benjamin Moore's MoorGard Low Lustre are formulated to tolerate temps as low as 35 and 40 degrees, respectively.) Broomfield Home Painting
Or, do I measure each room individually? Say for instance a room is 12 x 12 (width of the walls) x 8 (height of the walls) (384 sq. ft.) , is this the sq footage I charge by? I know I would need to plus and or minus for the doors and windows in the room and also add in the ceiling, but I just want to know would I charge for instance, 384 x $1.25 ? Do I increase the sq. footage when I add in trim, doors, and ceiling? Broomfield House Painting

Generally speaking, a gallon of paint will cover about 350 square feet. If this is the first time drywall is painted, it will soak up more paint. And remember to factor in whether your job will require one or two coats of paint. Dark and bright colors will require more coats of paint, as will painting a lighter color over an existing darker color. Divide the paintable wall surface by 350 to determine how many gallons of paint you will need to buy. If there’s an odd number with less than .5 leftover, round down, if it’s over .5 round up. In July of this year a ***** window screen was damaged and disposed while Prism House was painting our home. The owner agreed to replace the screen but they first tried making it themselves. Unfortunately however, this screen is so ill fitting and poorly made that it won't even stay in place without duck tape. The owner was made aware of the situation and agreed to order an exact replacement from *****. After no follow through by Prism House, I worked with ***** and then forwarded the order forms/information to them in earlier September. At this time, the owner said he would order the screen. No screen has been ordered and Prism House remains unresponsive. The second issue that I am looking to resolve is one of moisture bubbles that appeared on our side door - as soon as the exterior painting was considered complete. I have reached out the Prism House Painting repeatedly via phone, email and text message regarding both of these issues.…Read More Broomfield House Painting
Whether you decide to do the preparation work yourself or have a professional do it as part of your project, proper preparation makes all the difference in creating a smooth and lasting finish. Do it correctly the first time or you’ll quickly end up spending more to fix peeling and chipping paint. Follow this process before starting on your home's exterior. Keep in mind that the process may vary based on your siding materials: Broomfield House Painting

Hi Kadie, when it’s sort of a piecemeal job like you’ve listed, we recommend bringing your head painter to help estimate. Your foreman, or most experienced painter can tell you how long each item will take. For example: Sanding and Painting 6 doors = 4 hours. 3 window shutters = 1.5 hours etc. After itemizing everything with your painter you’ll get a labor total, like 25 hours. And then charge an amount per hour that includes hourly labor, materials and your profit margin. Lets say all your items take 25 hours and you charge $60 per hour (includes labor, paint, and your markup). You would bill the customer 25x$60 = $1,500. This estimating process is recommended when there are many scattered things to be painted and it’s not just a full repaint. Hopefully this helps, Kadie. Broomfield Home Painting
Generally making a paint estimate is very difficult job yet a necessary one. Understanding key mechanics behind every quote is the basis which might not only enable us to understand nut also do estimation for ourselves. To begin with, we need to understand the basic structure and volume of the work to be undertaken. Along with the nature and type of the paint and skills set required for it must be considered. We should also carefully account for the possible “hard areas” like hose mounts etc. along with other items that are fixed. Estimate for the additional costs for example moving furniture and cleaning services after the job is done should also be added to the estimate. We should also consider the difficulties that are expected to be encountered during work e.g. high structures and ladder-based work. Cost of consumables such as supplies, cleaning tools and other materials to be used in additional capacity are also to be added to the estimate House Painting Broomfield CO
Mantle needs caulk, puddy sand and paint.6 doors and door frames to be caulked puddied sanded and painted 2 are exterior, caulk bathtub, front door is wood needs painted, small windows around front door to be painted, island in kitchen has 12 drawers to be sprayed blue, trim here and there caulked, puddied, sanded and painted,3 window shutters outside to be painted, window trim outside in back to be caulked puddied and painted, cut in around shower and tub, garage door to be painted, stucco around front door to be painted.

Good day. Stumbled on your site and spent some time reading. Great information. I’ve been applying coatings for some time now, but after that time still hit a stumbling block when putting together estimates for exterior work when doing brick homes that require doors, and the trim package. I’ve got a 4,000 sq ft ranch and has one high side where the driveway slopes down to a garage. Is everyone running linear feet pricing nowadays for fascia, soffit, and dentil moulding? I know different markets will have different tolerances. Trying to soundboard to see what most exterior guys are doing now. We’ve been indoors for some time now and branching back to more exterior work. Appreciate any advice and feedback. Thanks! House Painting Broomfield Colorado
I have a wire fence with wood posts every four feet. A guy I know painted it. It took 4 gallons of stain but he can’t figure what to charge. I want to be fair, so any clue to a fair price? if I provided all materials stain and equipment and he did pressure wash the fence to prep it after 3 days he was half done, so on Sunday I was off work and painted the other half in 6 hrs using half of the 4 gallons.

Hello, I’m Interested I’m beginning a painting business in homer Alaska and am curious on the price for bidding. My friends parents had a side of their house estimated and they said it was going to cost them a whopping 3500 dollars! Very small area to paint for that mark up price but everything in Alaska is very expensive so I was curious if that was normal. Also wondering if small towns are better or worse for new painting businesses? Would that mean for less clients but less competition? I’m very familiar with both interior and exterior painting but am very much skilled at new construction/production painting. I’m just not sure if somewhere like Alaska would be good for business especially during the winter.

I have always wanted to work for myself.I have been making other guys rich for years.I know if they can do it I can do it.One downside is I don’t have the gift of gab like they do.I would probably benefit from getting someone to work with me in that area.I can do the labor.I will have a problem with bidding and finding the work.I work for guys who take me to a customers house say this is Mike and leave me to do the work .I barely make ends meet while I hear them getting 4,000 dollar checks .It isn’t adding up I need to be working for my future not theirs.I would like to begin my own business it will be slow and I wont have a lot to start but I will grow expand and gain employees and knowledge.Do you have people in Cincinnati,Ohio I would like to offer other services as well.I can do minor drywall repairs clean cut lawns a lot of property preservation type stuff also Thank You for this site by he way it helps.

There’s no doubt about it: weather and time can take a toll on a house’s paint job. Sooner or later, most homeowners will need to tackle interior and exterior painting projects. The cost of painting a house will vary depending on many factors. If you have the time and energy, you can save money and paint a house yourself, and you just need to factor in the cost of paint and materials, as well as the value of your time. When you say trim for an interior paint job are you including the interior doors? I usally charge $25 a side, unless damaged, then it’s $50 a side in addition to the trimwork. Also, I think your calculations for paint needed for new construction are a little low, we just completed a 1550 sq ft house with a couple coats of PVA on the ceinlings & walls, that required 35 gallons of wall/ceiling paint-same [email protected] $20.50 a gallon, and 7 gallons of a waterborne alkyd hybrid for the trim & doors @ $50 a gallon, and a gallon for a fireplace & accent wall color, a couple gallons of primer and 22 tubes of caulk, for a total of about $1450 for paint & supplies. We spray ceilings & trim, and cut & roll walls. Broomfield Home Painting

My husband and I hired Rome and his crew to paint the exterior of our home and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! We purchased a Contemporary style home that was built in 1985 and what was once a gloomy, sad shade of a blue/grey, in desperate need of a facelift. Now, this house really feels like a "new" home (complete with an updated deck...read on for more)! Broomfield Home Painting

- The paint job will take you much longer compared to the painting speed of the pros. An experienced paint crew can paint the entire house in 2-3 days (depending on square footage and job complexity). However, if you only paint on week nights and weekends the same job may take you 2-3 weeks. During this time, the area that you are painting will not be usable and the house will be in a general state of disarray. House Painting Broomfield CO

Hi Mensah, we see all ranges of pricing for exterior house painting, but usually the pricing falls between $1.00 – $1.50 per square foot. Which means the price would roughly be $2,500 – $3,750. Please keep in mind that prep-work and other factors play a huge role in the cost. Also the quality of materials, ladder placements, drastic color changes etc. Broomfield House Painting
Paint supplies cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more depending on what you need. Painters will typically provide most of the supplies for a project, but sometimes they will allow you to pay for solely labor if you provide all the materials yourself. You might decide to do a DIY paint job down the road. In which case having these supplies on-hand will save you time and money. House Painting Broomfield CO
Hi Conaz, good question. There’s a really good breakdown of all painting equipment (cost, supplies list etc.) here . As far as your other costs, I would break it down into categories, similar to how an accountant would do it: Marketing Expense, Insurance/Workers Comp., Gas/Mileage. Once you’ve discovered this monthly overhead you can determine your markup. We always try to make 40-50% gross profit on a paint job before any other expenses. Your net profit will be determined by the size of your business. For example, one painting company with 40 employees may only have a net profit of 10%, but a smaller operation; One owner and one crew may have a net profit of 35%. You should decide beforehand what you want to make per job, factoring in all your costs, and then create a consistent bidding process to make what you want. Broomfield Home Painting

Thus if you want to paint 2 rooms of approximately 150 sq. ft. each (300 sq.ft. total), you will be paying about $4 per sq. ft. However if you are painting the entire house, your base price is about $2.25 per sq.ft. for a 1 storey home with a total of 1700 sq.ft. of living area to be painted (including closets / staircases). A 2+ storey home of same size will cost about $2.45 per sq.ft. Broomfield House Painting
Steven and team did an outstanding job turning our home from one with chipped paint from multiple terrible painting jobs and gapping holes from woodpeckers to looking like a brand new home! The team replaced all damaged shingles, removed an old door and added shingles in its place to match the rest of the house, sanded down the old paint (over multiple days) and then painted beautifully. They also took some extra days to remove old wallpaper up our stairs and in our hallways, repaired the drywall and repainted. Every day the team was onsite and ready to work at the time we were told (and usually even early) and the project was wrapped up exactly when we were told, and surpassed all of our expectations. We will definitely be recommending Flying Colors to anyone and everyone in the future. Broomfield Home Painting
Paint made for the exterior of a house is formulated differently from that destined for interior paint jobs. Exterior house paint is blended to withstand rain, wind, and varying temperatures, while interior house paint is formulated to hide minor imperfections such as brush marks, handprints, and scuffs. Interior paints can be made washable for convenience, and doesn’t require exposure to light to cure. Broomfield Home Painting
