Poor work quality at a high price. I waited 7-8 weeks for the work to begin without receiving a single phone call. Two men scraped portions of the garage with a 2-inch putty knife less than two hours and were about to start painting when I stopped. I insisted that more scraping was necessary and that they hadn't sanded or primed as per the contract. The foreman told me that sanding was not necessary, then left and returned days later after I sent pictures and video to the salesperson of loose paint being removed with my finger. I micromanaged as much of the job as I could, and had to replace portions of rotted wood myself, because the foreman and manager said it couldn't be done. See the pictures of the completed work that show clearly visible dripping paint throughout the garage, rotted wood that was not convenient for the crew to replace, horrible bumpy putty to close gaps, no filler between some joints where they replaced wood, and painting over staples that could easily have been removed. After much complaining on my end, the manager did become more responsive and checked in on the job several times. They were also very timely in contacting me to request payments throughout the job. The salesperson opening line to us was we have higher prices than our competitors, but you can trust us to deliver a good job. That promise was clearly not met. In fact, I showed them my neighbors garage that was recently painted by another company, and their response was that I should not expect perfection, and not to expect the garage to look as good as my neighbors. When You Screw Up Will you mess up a couple times? Definitely. More than a couple. I have messed up a lot of painting estimates. But every time we mess up (and we still do), we learn from those mistakes and never make the same mistakes twice. Screwing up and failing is how you learn. Be ready to make never-ending tweaks and adjustments to your estimates. There is no way to be in business and not screw up. Learn to embrace those failures, and learn from them. If you do screw up your bid, that’s ok. You have to price yourself incredibly low to actually lose money. So don’t sweat. Just learn. Broomfield Home Painting

Exterior paint averages $25-$40 a gallon, and a 3,000-square-foot home takes 15 or more gallons of paint, or $375-$600 just for the paint. However, really premium paint can cost $50-$100 a gallon, or $750-$1,500 for that large home. Doing it yourself also requires renting a pressure washer or sprayer for $50-$100 a day; extra-long ladders or scaffolding at $20-$75 daily; and a power sprayer for $50-$100 daily, plus masking tape, drop cloths and other supplies. However, it's possible to paint a large, two-story house for materials-only costs of $400-$600. Broomfield House Painting
If your home or apartment is more than 30 years old (constructed prior to 1978), there is a high chance that the current paint on the walls and window/door trim contains lead. This is a serious health hazard, especially if there are small children living in the home. If you suspect that there may be lead paint on your walls, its best to test for it and remove it, before putting on new coats of paint. Broomfield Home Painting

My husband and I hired Rome and his crew to paint the exterior of our home and we couldn't be happier with the finished product! We purchased a Contemporary style home that was built in 1985 and what was once a gloomy, sad shade of a blue/grey, in desperate need of a facelift. Now, this house really feels like a "new" home (complete with an updated deck...read on for more)! House Painting Broomfield Colorado
I hired a painting company to paint my house and garage. Price was about $5,000.Sherwin Williams paint T-1000. When he was questioned about the paint peeling two days after he painted the garage he quit even with a contract not a very professional person. So,now I have to find someone else to paint my house. After 3 weeks of them trying to paint around the rain. The original time frame was 3-4 days.Yes 3 weeks and all that got done was a small two car garage that could have been done in two days.I know he did not prep correctly and properly I will end up having to redo the garage. I went to Sherwin Williams and got the colors. So beware even with a contract and good references. House Painting Broomfield CO
I am starting out on my own and like most everyone else, I am inexperienced with estimating and pricing. I know you dont do estimates, but my question is about the pricing market in the DC area as oppose to other regions. I painted mostly in the west where the cost of living is much cheaper. How will I compare pricing from there to here in the DC area where the cost of living is 3xs as high? Broomfield Home Painting
It’s been a while but I know I can do the required hours to finish in two days completely, however did I mention I am the only crew for the job. So I tend to bid low and some of the quotes i have read from your posts seemed high, but I am interested in what you would bid and I am on board to give that bid to My client. What’s the worst they can say,,no? Better that than underestimate my time and skills. Signed interested in a sound bid.

You’ll spend between $500 and $3,000 or $1 to $3.50 per square foot to paint concrete. However, expect to pay $2 to $7 per square foot since concrete almost always needs a coat of primer first. Double that price if the concrete requires stripping. Concrete is porous. Sealing it not only helps blend foundations and walls with your home’s aesthetic, but also seals it against water. Repairing or resurfacing concrete costs $300 to $500 for every 100 square feet. Broomfield Home Painting
Hello, I’m Interested I’m beginning a painting business in homer Alaska and am curious on the price for bidding. My friends parents had a side of their house estimated and they said it was going to cost them a whopping 3500 dollars! Very small area to paint for that mark up price but everything in Alaska is very expensive so I was curious if that was normal. Also wondering if small towns are better or worse for new painting businesses? Would that mean for less clients but less competition? I’m very familiar with both interior and exterior painting but am very much skilled at new construction/production painting. I’m just not sure if somewhere like Alaska would be good for business especially during the winter. Broomfield House Painting
That said, depending on the composition of the paint, some exterior paint is appropriate for painting the interior of a home. Paint meant for the exterior of a home will hold up over time.Just be sure that the area being painted is well ventilated, as it will come with a strong smell at first, which will dissipate over time.A painting professional will be able to advise you about whether your exterior paint is appropriate for indoor use. This was a wonderful experience. Peter Smith is professional and expert in his assessments and knowledge. During our initial meeting he answered most of my questions before I asked them. This is quite an accomplishment as I ask a lot of questions. Products used were high quality. Before work began, Peter said that punctuality is key. The teams arrived about 15 minutes prior to starting each work day. His teams were skilled, meticulous in their work, and responsive to any questions or comments. Cleanup at the end of each day was impeccable. They completed the job less than an hour ago. Their excellent work has restored the appearance of my house. Peter Smith is responsive to one's comments whether email, phone or in person discussion. I have high standards and am pleased with the fine results and good value and therefore recommend Peter Smith Painting. House Painting Broomfield CO
Prepping a house costs anywhere from $0.50 to $2.50 per square foot. This is almost always included in the total project price. However, the DIYer might negotiate some discounts for completing this work on their own. Be warned, proper prep is key to the quality and durability of the finish. If you do this work yourself, the contractor might no guarantee to finished product. House Painting Broomfield Colorado
Small random-orbit or pad sanders make this job go faster. (Wallis first covers these boundaries with Synkoloid patching compound so no edge is visible after sanding.) As shown, you want to make sure that there is a feathered, smooth transition from exposed wood to old paint. For areas that might get close scrutiny, you can follow up with a 100- or 120-grit rubdown to erase any scratches.
Paint supplies cost anywhere from $10 to $100 or more depending on what you need. Painters will typically provide most of the supplies for a project, but sometimes they will allow you to pay for solely labor if you provide all the materials yourself. You might decide to do a DIY paint job down the road. In which case having these supplies on-hand will save you time and money. Broomfield Home Painting
A single gallon of paint can run anywhere from $20 to $80 per gallon. Professionals get a contractor discount of anywhere from 25 to 50 percent. For rough siding, like stucco, you’ll need to use 10% to 20% more paint. Some textures, like wood and stucco, require extra paint because they have more surface to cover in a tiny area compared to smooth siding. Use the highest quality exterior paint your budget will allow for your project. It will look the nicest and save you money by offering better coverage and durability. Better coverage means fewer coats and fewer work hours. You’ll also go a few years longer without needing to shell out more cash for a new coat. How do you know how much paint you're paying for? Here's some helpful math: Broomfield House Painting
I have used Flying Colors in the past for roof cleaning and refurbishing and painting my cedar siding. They did an excellent job then so when damage was done to my roof due to a fallen tree I immediately thought of them. I called and within a day they had someone out covering the tree and hole in my roof with a tarp to prevent rain from doing further damage. Then I needed to do serious tree removal throughout the whole property including the roof, but as soon as that was done, I called Steve Totilo the owner and within 3 days he had a crew working on the repairs and reshingling which were done in short order. The work looks impeccable and I would never hesitate to recommend him for any outside home repair or painting you might need.
It is the most common mistake to ignore the overhead costs associated with a paint job. Usually we are estimating it on the basis of costs directly traceable to a job, while we fail to recognize the fact that there are other costs to be allocated proportionately. These typically include “fixed costs” of the shop rent and shipping etc. We should also consider the “out-of-pocket expenses” that might be accrued on a daily basis for example gas or other costs solely expended for the sake of a particular job. Once an estimate is made it is never a bad idea to compare it with vendors in your area so as to get a clearer picture of the situation. In bids it should be kept in mid that if a contractor is pricing high he might be confident as to the quality of his work. While a contractor should not go beyond the market pricing unless he has some solid reason to do so.
O'Neil patches shallow holes and divots with Ready Patch because it dries fast, sands smooth, and stays flexible. Deep cracks and rotten spots are best repaired with two-step epoxies, such as those made by Advanced Repair Technology. (For a step-by-step instructions, see Repairing Rot with Epoxy.) The days of using polyester auto-body fillers on wood are over. "They cure too hard," says Portland, Oregon–based painting contractor Kathleen George. "They look good at first, but then they peel away."
Generally making a paint estimate is very difficult job yet a necessary one. Understanding key mechanics behind every quote is the basis which might not only enable us to understand nut also do estimation for ourselves. To begin with, we need to understand the basic structure and volume of the work to be undertaken. Along with the nature and type of the paint and skills set required for it must be considered. We should also carefully account for the possible “hard areas” like hose mounts etc. along with other items that are fixed. Estimate for the additional costs for example moving furniture and cleaning services after the job is done should also be added to the estimate. We should also consider the difficulties that are expected to be encountered during work e.g. high structures and ladder-based work. Cost of consumables such as supplies, cleaning tools and other materials to be used in additional capacity are also to be added to the estimate House Painting Broomfield Colorado
